Kat was born in Massachusetts, graduated high school in 1987, and she worked for an environmental laboratory as an administrative assistant for 10 years. After moving to Atlanta in 1998, she began working for an import company where she became acquainted with Lee Hardman Customs Broker, Inc. In 2005, Kat started working for LHCB as an Import Specialist. She was licensed as a CHB in 2010, the same year she achieved the Certified Customs Specialist (CCS), and continues her CCS education yearly. In 2016 she was promoted to Import Supervisor and supervises the Customer Service Department. Kat still has ties to Massachusetts, and is an avid New England Patriots fan.
